In college, I hated writing because of a narcissistic professor who hated my dark and disturbing writings; and to a degree, resented my abilities as a writer. Joan tried to beat the pen out of my hand. Bad grades, incoherent after-class advice, a lack of constructive feedback, and an obvious avoidance problem. After a few bad grades, I was asked to write a one page short-short story. This is what I wrote after being berated and downgraded. Joan loved whimsical, upbeat stories about butterflies or whatever. I wrote a short story about a woman who loved her job at the yogurt factory. What could go wrong?
(Yogurt Factory was written 2015, Sophomore Year at Ohio University)
